Student Life Awards

Nominations for the Student Life Awards are open! Club and RSG executives can enter their own organization for up to five awards, and service coordinators can also nominate their service. In addition, all members of the student union can nominate a student who deserves an individual award. Don't miss this chance to showcase student engagement and have a chance to win a beautiful trophy at the ceremony! Please note: individual prizes also come with scholarships!

Philanthropic Club of the Year

Recognizes a student club that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to community service, fundraising, and social impact through charitable initiatives.

Recreational Club of the Year

Celebrates a club that fosters student engagement and well-being through fun, leisure, and social activities, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Most Engaged Cultural Club of the Year

Honors a club that promotes cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusivity through events, discussions, and activities that celebrate various traditions and heritages.

Most Engaged Political Club of the Year

Honours a club that demonstrated exceptional dedication to community service, social justice, advocacy, or civic engagement.

Most Engaged Religious Club of the Year

Acknowledges a club that provides spiritual guidance, fosters a sense of community, and organizes meaningful religious or faith-based activities for students.

Academic Club of the Year

Recognizes a club that has made significant contributions to students’ academic development through mentorship, workshops, networking, and intellectual engagement.

Creative Club Award of the Year

Celebrates a club that excels in artistic expression, innovation, and creative initiatives in fields such as visual arts, music, writing, design, or performing arts.

Sorority / Fraternity of the Year

Awards a sorority or fraternity that has demonstrated leadership, strong community involvement, and a positive impact on campus life.

Sports and Athletic Club of the Year

Recognizes a sports club that has excelled in athletic achievement, teamwork, and promoting physical fitness and sportsmanship.

Best Club Event Award

Highlights an outstanding club event that was well-organized and had a significant positive impact on student life.

Best Marketed Club Award (Public Vote)

Honors a club that demonstrated exceptional creativity and effectiveness in marketing, branding, and student outreach.

Best New Club Award

Recognizes a newly established club that made a strong impact in its first year through engagement, programming, and leadership.

Best Bilingual Club Award

Celebrates a club that actively promotes bilingualism and inclusivity, ensuring English and French speakers feel welcomed and represented.

Excellence in STEM

Recognizes a STEM-focused club that demonstrated outstanding contributions in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics through innovation, research, and engagement in 2024.

Excellence in Business

Celebrates a business or entrepreneurship-focused club that excelled in leadership development, professional growth, and innovative business initiatives.

CAS Awards

Presented by the Club Administration Service Office to a club that demonstrated outstanding administrative excellence, leadership, and organization.

RSGs Awards

Best Collab Event

Recognizes an event organized through meaningful collaboration between two or more Recognized Student Governments (RSGs). This award highlights initiatives that strengthen inter-faculty relationships, foster student unity, and demonstrate strong coordination, creativity, and shared leadership to create a memorable and impactful campus experience.

Best Franco Event

Honours an RSG that organized an outstanding event promoting the French language, francophone culture, and inclusivity. This award recognizes initiatives that create welcoming French-language spaces, encourage community connection, and contribute to the vitality of francophonie on campus.

Best RSG Communications / Marketing

Recognizes an RSG that demonstrated excellence in communication, branding, and student outreach through innovative and effective use of digital platforms, social media, and promotional strategies. This award highlights the ability to meaningfully engage students, increase visibility, and build a strong sense of community.

Best RSG Event

Celebrates a flagship event organized by an RSG that demonstrated outstanding planning, creativity, and student engagement. This award recognizes initiatives that foster academic enrichment, networking, community-building, or memorable campus experiences with meaningful impact on participants.

Best Philanthropic Event

Acknowledges an RSG-led initiative that demonstrated exceptional commitment to philanthropy, community service, or social impact. This award honours events that successfully raised awareness or funds for meaningful causes while mobilizing students and strengthening community engagement.

RSG of the Year

Recognizes the most outstanding Recognized Student Government that demonstrated exceptional leadership, sustained student engagement, impactful programming, and meaningful collaboration throughout the year. This award highlights an RSG that significantly enriched student life, supported its members, and contributed positively to the broader university community.

Jock Turcot Award

The Jock Turcot Award, named after a former Student Union President, is presented to an undergraduate student at the University of Ottawa who embodies leadership, teamwork, and collaboration to enhance student life. This prestigious award recognizes a student who has made a significant and positive impact on the university community while demonstrating integrity and a commitment to uplifting others.

Club President of the Year Award

$2000, $1000 for two runner-ups

Recognizes an outstanding club president who has demonstrated exemplary leadership, dedication, and innovation in managing their club, fostering growth, and enriching student life. Runner-ups will also be acknowledged for their contributions.

RSG President of the Year Award

$2000, $1000 for one runner-up

Honors a Recognized Student Government President who has made significant contributions to their association through exceptional leadership and time commitment, innovation and commitment to representing students within their faculty or program.

Outstanding Commitment to a UOSU Service

$2000

Celebrates an individual who has made a significant impact through their volunteer involvement in a University of Ottawa Student Union (UOSU) service, going above and beyond to support students and improve campus life.

Outstanding Commitment to an RSG

$2000

Recognizes a student who has demonstrated remarkable dedication and contributions to a Recognized Student Government, going above and beyond in student advocacy, event planning, philanthropy or governance. They may have held executive, director or 101 week role(s).

Outstanding Commitment to a Club

$2000

Awards a student who has gone above and beyond in their involvement with a club, showing dedication, leadership, and a lasting impact on its success and student engagement. They may have been a club executive or general member who has contributed significantly to the club.

Achievement by a First-Year

$2000

Recognizes a first-year student who has already made an outstanding impact on student life through leadership, innovation, or active involvement in clubs or Recognized StudentGovernments. The recipient must have begun their studies at the University of Ottawa in September 2024.
