The Board of Directors is a body of elected students who represent their respective faculties in the internal affairs of the UOSU. They are tasked with voting on motions, amending certain parts of the Constitution, holding monthly Board meetings, and overseeing the financials of the Union.
The Chair of the Board is a non-political, neutral, procedural role. They are the highest constitutional authority and interpret the UOSU’s policies as needed. They preside over meetings of the Board and are responsible for the governance and administration of the Board. They are the head of the procedural team, overseeing the Clerks. They also organize and chair the UOSU’s General Assemblies, and support members in navigating the UOSU’s procedures, on matters including referendum questions, complaints and more.
They are appointed by the Board of Directors at the beginning of each new mandate, and serve for one year. To ensure neutrality, they are not a member of staff, and no person who has served as an Executive or Director in the preceding two (2) years may be Chair of the Board.
