101 Week is the University of Ottawa’s official welcome week, designed for first-year students. Organized by the UOSU in collaboration with your Recognized Student Governments (RSGs), the week offers a wide range of activities, from a charity fun-run (Shinerama) to cultural events on campus, and for those aged 18 and over, a lively bar night in Gatineau!
Throughout the week, you’ll explore the campus and the city with your peers, form lasting friendships, and take part in friendly inter-faculty competitions. To join in on the experience, just grab your 101 Week kit from your RSG which includes an official T-shirt, access bracelet, and plenty of surprises and swag!
For more information on your specific 101 Week, contact your Recognized Student Government today!
Kits will go on sale on July 20th, 2026. Make sure to follow @uottawa.2030 and your respective RSG on Instagram so you don’t miss the drop!
101 Week takes place during your first week at uOttawa, from September 5th to September 12th.

A 101 Week Kit is the equivalent of your ticket for all events of the week. Included will be your 101er T-Shirt, some merch from your Students’ Union (that’s us J) and your Recognized Student Government. You will also receive a bracelet at your first event. The bracelet and T-Shirt are your tickets for entry at all 101 Week events; you’ll need to wear them at all times (except for classes!)
You will purchase the kit of your Recognized Student Government (RSG)! These associations are your faculty or program specific associations that are organizing all the 101 Week events for you and your peers. It can be a bit confusing to know what RSG represents you, so take a look at this page, where all RSGs are listed with the program they represent! And if you’re an Indigenous Student, make sure to reach out to them to see what they offer to you!
Double major students can pick to purchase either (or both!) 101 Week kits from either of their RSGs. For example, a student enrolled in a Political Science and History double major program can purchase the kit from the International, Political and Policy Studies Students Association for the Political Science major, or the Students’ Association of the Faculty of Arts for the History major. You may opt to wait until each RSG posts their schedules of events on their Instagram to make your decision, but these will come later in the summer. Whichever one you pick, you will still experience the best 101 Week!
We strongly encourage you to purchase your kit in advance, as quantities are limited. However, on Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th, all the RSGs will have a booth on campus where they will sell their remaining kits.
Kits will be picked up on Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th, on campus. All the RSGs will have a booth on campus where you can go pick up your kit! A map with all the locations will be posted on @uottawa.2030 later this summer, so make sure to follow us.
Yes, there are drinking events during 101 Week! We use the term “Wet” event, for an event where drinking will be involved, and “Dry” event for an event where there will be no alcohol. All “Wet” event are held across the river, in Gatineau, where the drinking age is 18! So if you’re 18, you are welcome to attend the “Wet” events. For those that are under 18, or that don’t wish to drink, every “Wet” event has a “Dry” event taking place at the same time.
Organizing 101 Week is a big project, and all the organizers from your RSGs are volunteers. Schedules will be posted in the following weeks on each RSG’s Instagram. Make sure you follow your RSG! You can find the list of RSGs and their Instagram here.
Every RSG is responsible to sell their own kits. They all have their own events and items included in their kits, which is why the price varies from one organization to the other.
