Helping students find the right people, programs, and services.
The Student Life Ambassador program is part of the UOSU's Student Life portfolio. These student volunteers welcome their peers, answer basic questions, and direct them to the right UOSU program or service, with a particular focus on under-served zones of campus (STEM, SITE, Lees, Roger-Guindon). The program was created to build permanent outreach infrastructure, rather than last-minute coordination, and to give students real leadership and volunteer experience.
Responsibilities
- Tabling shifts: set up in assigned zones, greet and redirect students, track interactions and common questions.
- Event support: 101 Week, Dry Alternative event, Student Life Awards, Frost Month. Check-in, wayfinding, setup, teardown, and accessibility support.
- Info relay: bring student feedback to the Student Life team and flag recurring issues.
- Comms support: optional story reshares, poster runs, and word-of-mouth promotion.
Weekly rhythm: one shift every 1-2 weeks, with surges in September and during Frost Month, plus a monthly 15-minute team check-in.
Benefits and Perks
- Ambassador kit: t-shirt, ambassador card with QR code, branded pens, lanyard with badge holder.
- Recognition: reference letter or volunteer certificate, Student Life Awards recognition, Co-Curricular Record end-of-year certificate.
- Leadership development: hands-on representation and volunteer experience, networking with UOSU executives and staff.
- Optional projects: opportunities to get more involved based on your interests (101 Week, Dry Alternative event, Student Life Awards, campus activations, or embedding with a specific service).
