The UOSU’s annual operating budget is adopted by the Board of Directors, no later than August 1. The annual budget shall account for all projected revenues and expenses for the current Fiscal Year, including the student life/events budgets, services budgets, club funding, the Health and Dental benefits plan, any fee voted by the referendum and any subsidy or reserve funds.
The operating budget is drafted by the President and the Operations Commissioner in coordination the Finance Committee and the UOSU’s management. Once adopted, the operating budget can be amended by the Executive Committee (up to 5%) or the Finance Committee (up to 10%).
At the end of each mandate, the outgoing Operations Commissioner will also prepare a preliminary budget, which is approved by the outgoing Board of Directors in April.
An external audit shall be performed on the UOSU’s finances each year, no later than September 30. The Board of Directors approves the audited accounts in October. They are presented to general members each year at the Autumn General Assembly.
