2025 By-Election Timeline

On Sunday, July 27, 2025, the UOSU Board of Directors approved the following timeline for the 2025 By-Election:

  • Nomination Period: September 3 to September 21 at 6 pm.
  • Campaign Period: September 22 to October 5.
  • Voting Period: October 6 to October 10 at 6 pm.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) leads the Elections Office. They are hired by and report to the Elections Committee. The CEO is appointed for a one-year term from May 1 to April 30.

The CEO exercises general direction and supervision over the conduct of elections, referendums, and plebiscites. They are also responsible for ensuring that the Elections Office remains fair and impartial with regard to all the elections, referendums, and plebiscites that it administers.

Ben Cameron has been serving as Chief Electoral Officer since October 2024. He is currently studying Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Ottawa.
