The Nomination Period is from January 12 to February 8 at 6 PM.
To be nominated, you must submit the following to the Elections Office at elections@seuo-uosu.com by the end of the Nomination Period:
All candidates must obtain 25 signatures from UOSU Members. For Board and Senate candidates, these must be from students in their faculty. It is recommended that candidates obtain more than the required number of signatures in case some are deemed invalid.
Candidates must also attend the All-Candidate Meeting on February 7 at 6:30 PM in CRX C408. If you wish to join virtually, please contact the Elections Office.
To submit a referendum question, fill out the referendum form (F-2) and email it to elections@seuo-uosu.com.
The Executive Committee manages the day-to-day activities of the UOSU. They are undergraduate students who work full-time and are paid to fulfil a specific mandate during their term.
Term ending: April 30, 2027
The President is chief spokesperson andleader of the UOSU. They are responsible for the management and supervision ofthe Union’s affairs, including carrying out its mandate, supporting itsinternal governance, hiring its staff, and supporting other members of theExecutive Committee.
The Advocacy Commissioner is your advocate. They are responsible for the external and governmental affairs of the UOSU, including lobbying and running campaigns to raise issues faced by students to municipal, provincial, and federal stakeholders and governments, including the uOttawa administration.
The Francophone Affairs Commissioner defends the interests of Francophone students at the uOttawa, the world’s largest bilingual university. They oversee programming for Francophone students, ensure that the services and programs of the Union are bilingual, and protect Francophone rights.
The Operations Commissioner keeps the UOSU running smoothly. They work with the President and Executive Director to direct and oversee the internal operations of the Union, including business and service operations, finances, and human resources.
The Student Life Commissioner works to make your experience at uOttawa a memorable one. They organize social and philanthropic events on campus such as 101 Week, Frost Month, and the Student Life Awards, while also managing the administration of funds and scholarships and overseeing the Union’s relations with Recognized Student Governments. They are also responsible for clubs, overseeing the Clubs Administration Service, and chairing the Clubs Committee and the Funds and Scholarships Committee.
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the UOSU. It oversees and shapes the Union’s work through the adoption of policies, advocacy, and the annual budget. They set the direction for the organization and oversee the Executives. This is a volunteer role that requires around 20 hours of work per month.
Term ending: April 30, 2027
The Board of Governors is responsible for the uOttawa’s overall governance and management, making financial decisions and implementing the university’s policies and procedures. The Board also appoints the President, Vice-Presidents, and senior managers.
Term ending: April 30, 2028
There is one available seat on the Board of Governors.
The Senate is responsible for the management of academic issues on campus and sets uOttawa’s academic policies, such as the regulations on academic integrity, accommodations, and grading. The Senate can create and abolish faculties, departments, schools, institutes, and programs of study. It also sets admission and graduation requirements. This is a volunteer role that requires around 15 hours of work per month.
