He previously served as a Director and Communications Commissioner of the University of Ottawa Students’ Union and has held executive roles across multiple student clubs and his Recognized Student Government.
He believes students deserve a union that is accountable, transparent, and built on strong foundations. His focus is on fixing root causes so student fees are used responsibly, decisions are made fairly, and services deliver real value.
A strong and principled advocate, Daniel is committed to asking hard questions and standing up for students when it matters most.
He is running for President because students deserve better, and it is time to make the student union work for every student.

I’m Elnaz! I’ve worked for UOSU as the Operations Commissioner for the past year, focusing on fiscal responsibility and transparency to provide the best possible services to students. I’ve been a leader in UOSU’s housing research team and I’m passionate about changemaking through collaboration and data, especially as an International Development student. I’m running for President because I’m ready to take on the job: speaking up for students rights and wellbeing, delivering effective services that respond to our realities, improving food insecurity programs, and maximizing the Union’s reach because every student who pays the fee deserves to benefit from our programs. I’m promising hardworking and passionate leadership like I’ve delivered this past year, and I’ll lead with a focus on fighting the exam deferral fees, creating new student spaces, fixing the club funding system and tons of fun student life events!
The Operations Commissioner keeps the UOSU running smoothly. They work with the President and Executive Director to direct and oversee the internal operations of the Union, including business and service operations, finances, and human resources.

My name is Zach Lebel and I am a 3rd year student studying Mathematics and Economics. I have been involved in student life since the fall of 2023, where I was hired in the Economics Student Association, an RSG. Since then, a little over 2 years have passed and I am now president of the ESA, and a member of the UOSU board of directors! My time in the ESA has taught me what is needed to lead the finances and logistics of an organization! From organizing award winning philanthropic events on campus, and winning RSG of the year, I know what needs to be done to get things done. My time on the board and the Finance Committee is the most applicable experience for the position of Operations commissioner! Being the biggest advocate of the changes brought to club's registration is also a clear indicator of my commitment!
The Student Life Commissioner works to make your experience at uOttawa a memorable one. They organize social and philanthropic events on campus such as 101 Week, Frost Month, and the Student Life Awards, while also managing the administration of funds and scholarships and overseeing the Union’s relations with Recognized Student Governments. They are also responsible for clubs, overseeing the Clubs Administration Service, and chairing the Clubs Committee and the Funds and Scholarships Committee.

Hamza El Mendri is an engaged candidate for Student Life Commissioner. For the past two years, he has worked hands-on with student clubs, services, and recognized student governments to improve student life in meaningful and practical ways. Over the years, Hamza has supported 21 clubs with event organization, funding access, and sponsorship outreach, while encouraging collaboration across different student communities. He has also demonstrated his ability to manage large-scale initiatives by organizing a full 101 Week for over 110 students for his club, with a budget of only $3,000. His club now serves as a resource for more than 15 clubs through equipment lending and has collaborated with 25 University entities, directly contributing to student engagement on campus. Hamza believes student life should be accessible, dynamic, and welcoming. He is committed to building a campus where students feel truly supported, included, and encouraged to get involved.
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the UOSU. It oversees and shapes the Union’s work through the adoption of policies, advocacy, and the annual budget. Through my experience in student governance and advocacy, I understand the importance of transparency, responsible oversight, and listening to diverse student voices. I am committed to representing the perspectives and needs of Arts students while ensuring UOSU decisions remain fair, accessible, and beneficial to the broader student body.
If elected, I will work collaboratively with UOSU leadership, strengthen communication between students and UOSU, and advocate for policies that support academic success, equity, and student well-being across all faculties. My goal is to help maintain a union that truly reflects and serves the students it represents.

Hello, my name is Emma Brisson, and I am a third-year History student. Recently elected to the UOSU Board of Directors in the by-elections and currently serving as Vice-President of University Affairs for the Student Association of the Faculty of Arts, I bring meaningful experience in student governance and a sincere commitment to representing Arts students. Through these roles, I have strengthened my skills in advocacy, policy, and student representation, allowing me to address key challenges such as course availability, affordability, and accessibility. I am passionate about fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community, and I am particularly dedicated to amplifying the voices of francophone students so they are recognized, celebrated, and fully included in campus life. I am running for Arts Director to strengthen transparency, advocate for equitable academic access and affordability, and ensure every Arts student has a meaningful voice in shaping their university experience.

Hi! My name is Josh and I am a theatre student running to represent the Faculty of Arts on the UOSU Board of Directors. Back in September, I was a head guide for SAFA 101 week. Getting to know and work with our amazing guides within the faculty was one of the most rewarding experiences of my university career. I felt truly honoured to service over 350 of my fellow Arts students. With your help, I would love to continue my service for Arts students through the Board of Directors. From this position on the Board, I hope to accurately represent the needs of Arts students, so that our student union represents you, hears you, and values what you have to say. I hope that you’ll consider trusting me with your vote. Thank you.

My name is Patricia Defo, and I am a student in the Faculty of Health Sciences honored to represent my faculty in the 2026-2027 UOSU Board of Directors.
Over the past several years, I have been actively involved in community focused health and youth initiatives centered on representation, advocacy, and equity. Through this work, I have been entrusted with thousands of dollars in grant funding to plan and implement initiatives. Managing these funds required careful planning, responsible allocation of resources, and clear measurable outcomes. This experience directly aligns with the Board’s responsibility to oversee the Union’s finances and ensure that student resources are managed transparently and sustainably.
The Board plays a critical role in reviewing motions, safeguarding the Constitution, and maintaining strong financial oversight. If elected, I will approach these responsibilities with diligence, integrity, and the same level of accountability that has guided my community engagement and leadership.

Alec is currently a second-year student, pursuing a degree in political science with a minor in economics. He was an AÉÉIPPSSA guide this year, so he looks forward to working closely with FSS RSGs. He serves on the Relay for Life Committee, and he is passionate about Model Parliament (MPSP).
Alec is running to ensure that student dollars are respected and that a diverse range of views are heard at the UOSU level. He is committed to transparency and responsible governance. He wants to increase engagement in student life at uOttawa.
Outside of school and work, Alec is a diehard Blue Jays fan and likes country music.

Hi FSS! My name is Cédrik Desjardins. I’m a second-year student in political science. Since arriving on campus, I’ve made it a priority to be an active part of our dynamic student life. From serving as the UONDP’s VP External since my first year, to volunteering as a division lead for UOSU’s flying squad, to being a 101-week guide, I’ve dedicated my time to making a difference in the lives of students. I’ve decided to make the jump to the Board of Directors for much the same reason. Our student union’s mandate covers so many aspects of our time as students and I want to elevate your voices to make sure it works for you. You deserve a student union that is open to its members, champions bilingualism and inclusion, and empowers bold solutions on the issues we face.

Hi! My name is Issra Idris, and I am a third-year student in the Bachelor of Political Science and JD program. I am running to put students back at the center of university decision-making and to ensure governance that is ethical, transparent, and accountable.
My platform is built on responsible governance, accessibility, affordability, and transparency. I advocate for ethical university investments, stronger diversity and inclusion policies, and meaningful support and integration services for international students. I also support the creation of an emergency financial assistance grant, the reinstatement of undergraduate merit-based scholarships, and a permanent cap on tuition increases for both domestic and international students.
If elected, I commit to real transparency through regular public meetings, clear monthly updates, and direct channels for student feedback. I will listen, act, and report back, because students deserve a university that works for them. Together, we will turn student priorities into real change.

I’ve served students through student governance, and have been an advocate for increased engagement in elections since my first day on campus.
This year I’ve served on UOSU’s Board of Directors as a Director of Social Sciences where I’ve taken the responsibility of Chair of the Executive Oversight Committee where I have developed a deep understanding of Constitutions, policies, and legal best practices.
The current vision and mission of the University of Ottawa are as follows:
Vision: To instill an ethic of service, culture of engagement, and awareness for shared responsibility.
Mission: to promote bilingualism.
Students on the Board of Governors should represent not only students, but the University’s values, which are two things I embody. A vote for me is a vote for someone who is competent, who understands the commitment and has the experience to participate in meetings as a prudent and knowledgeable individual.

I am a second-year Malagasy civil engineering student and VP Social for Engineers Without Borders. I’m running for the Board of Governors because, like many of you, I’m tired of the status quo. Tired of skyrocketing rent, tuition hikes that don’t improve our labs, and a campus that feels more like a business than a community. I love advocating and I want to bring our reality into the boardroom. I’m deeply involved in campus life and committed to building a community where we actually look out for one another. If elected, for full transparency, I’ll use my Instagram to update you on every major board decision.
Vote for affordability by freezing residence and tuition fees; for community by ensuring student fees support those who need it most; and for accessibility by prioritizing essential repairs across campus. Vote for Marion, a voice that won't stay quiet.

The Senate is responsible for the management of academic issues on campus and sets uOttawa’s academic policies, such as the regulations on academic integrity, accommodations, and grading. The Senate can create and abolish faculties, departments, schools, institutes, and programs of study. It also sets admission and graduation requirements. This is a volunteer role that requires around 15 hours of work per month.
Term ending: April 30, 2028

Have you wasted precious time on uoZone trying to complete tasks that should take minutes? Or navigated UOttawa's administrative maze without finding answers? I have. As a civil law and social sciences student, I've learned that the best institutions listen to their members. I've supervised teams, taught, and learned to negotiate. Now, I want to negotiate for you.
My priorities:
Simplify uoZone with better organization, clear tutorials, and intuitive navigation
Reduce administrative stress by improving student-administration communication, including a collaborative FAQ
Facilitate faculty transfers by clarifying processes and reducing delays
I'm committed to being your voice in Senate, transforming frustrations into concrete changes. Our student experience deserves the best. Let's make it happen.

I am a third year Public Administration & Political Science student running to build a bold, ambitious future for uOttawa which can only happen when innovation and excellence remain at the heart of our academic mission, guided of course by empathy for students and faculty alike. The Senate must play a thoughtful role in ensuring we keep pace with evolving technologies and new ways of learning while unapologetically upholding dignity, integrity, and fairness. An academic endeavour driven by fear or rigid prohibition will never lead to the future we are worthy of; instead, we need a hybrid approach that reconciles today’s tools with integrity while respecting students’ rights. The Senate should engage in deeper dialogue and nurture mutual trust so innovation strengthens education rather than setting apart those who embrace the realities of today. Only thoughtful, bold oversight can prepare uOttawa for the future while safeguarding the moral values that have long defined us.
