Notre mandat

The Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD) is a service of the University of Ottawa’s Student Union that serves both the undergraduate and graduate student population. It is a service available to all students, not requiring someone to identify as a person with a disability to use it. Our events are open to all audiences.

The CSD focuses on the social aspect of the university community and the accessibility of our social activities. We strive to promote the independence and inclusion of students with disabilities in the university community by assisting in advocacy and awareness campaigns, creating an atmosphere of exchange and experience-sharing, and establishing a space where individuals and groups can voice their concerns about various issues facing different communities. We strive to remove stigma and attitudinal barriers through ensuring our resources are available to all no matter their identity, disability, or lack thereof.

Ressources

Accessibility Checklist – Planning an event? The CSD wants to help you make it the most accessible it can be through an easy-to-use checklist that might jog your memory as to something that can be added to graphics, in-person or online meetings. An accessible event is an event for everyone!

Braille Printer – The CSD has access to a Braille printer if you wanted to create signage, handouts and pamphlets for a student run event or service. For extensive documents, or documents of lesser urgency, an electronic copy accompanied by assistive technology is also available. Our Braille printer works in English and French.

Active Listening

Having a hard time with accessibility? Want to speak with someone who has real, lived experience on the matter? We want to listen! We serve as a drop-in space for students to come chat about issues they, or a friend/family member, might be dealing with in regards to accessibility, access issues on campus or in Ottawa, and mental health and wellness. This is offered in both official languages and via appointment through emailing us at csd-coord@seuo-uosu.com.
