Office hours:

Hi! I’m Delphine, and I’m your Student Union President. I’m a third-year student in the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences program with a minor in Political Science. When I’m not buried in readings, I love books, travelling, meeting new people, and discovering restaurants. I was born and raised in Montreal, and I moved here for my studies in 2021. I’ve been involved with UOSU since 2022, working as a Clerk and later as the Chair of the Board of Directors. I’ve met many of my closest friends through my involvement in UOSU and student life! I’ve been involved with IPPSSA (the International, Political & Policy Studies Student Association), Model Parliament and several clubs. I have worked for the House of Commons administration for the past two years, which has fuelled my passion for politics and the democratic process. I have also been a member of Library and Archives Youth Advisory Council.

Throughout my academic journey, I have witnessed the transformative power of unity and collective action. Our student community has stood together through obstacles, celebrated wins, mourned losses, fought for their rights and to be heard. I am committed to doing just that: ensuring that each voice is heard, and every perspective is valued. As Student Union President, I pledge to advocate for the interests and well-being of every student. Students are struggling, and I truly believe that the Student Union can help alleviate the hardship and challenges and be a force for change. I believe in passion, honesty, and dedication, and I am determined to build upon my experience and knowledge to champion a strong, and visible Student Union that addresses the needs of our community.

Being the UOSU’s first female president means a lot to me, and I’m grateful for the women who came before me and created the space for us to hold leadership positions in student government.

I would love to hear your ideas, concerns and thoughts. Feel free to come to my office hours or to send me an email!

Hello, I’m Daniel Thorp, a second-year Software Engineering student at the University of Ottawa. Before working for the UOSU, my professional experience was in DevOps and full-stack web development, as someone who specializes in creating accessible, robust, and interactive web experiences.

My journey into student politics began as the Development Director at Hack the Hill, where I played a pivotal role in organizing Ottawa’s largest hackathon last year. Subsequently, I became involved in the IEEE uOttawa Student Branch which is the association representing software, electrical, and computer engineering students. Eager to contribute further, I co-founded both the Cybersecurity Club and the Board Game Club.

Volunteering on the UOSU Board of Directors over the summer provided me with valuable insights into the union’s mandate and operations. Recognizing the union’s most significant challenge, a lack of communication and engagement with the student body, I decided to run for the position of Communications Commissioner. I am committed to implementing practical solutions to enhance communication and transform the UOSU into a student union with genuine support from its students.

Student life on campus holds great importance for me. In my role as Communications Commissioner, I oversee the union’s communications, implementing strategies for improvement.  My responsibilities include coordinating our communications and engagement with the student population, overseeing the outreach of our businesses and service centers, managing sponsorship outreach efforts, handling archival work, and enhancing internal communications. I am excited to collaborate with the exceptional team at UOSU to build a stronger and more engaged student union.

The Communications Commissioner manages the UOSU’s communication strategies, shaping its public image. The role involves overseeing social media and online content, ensuring consistent messaging across platforms. The Commissioner is responsible for keeping students informed and engaged with Union activities, maintaining transparent and effective communication with both students and external stakeholders.

Hello! My name is Maisy Elspeth (she/elle) and I am the UOSU’s Advocacy Commissioner for the ‘23-24 mandate. I am a third-year student in biomedical science with a minor in philosophy and I am so excited about working with the awesome executive team we have this year. I am passionate about improving the university experience by pursuing student advocacy initiatives. Over the course of history, it has been students at the forefront of political change. We have a voice in how our academic institution reacts to social problems as well as how it serves us. I am looking forward to seeing all that we do this year, and please don’t hesitate to reach out!

I have experience in student government and community organizing, I am looking forward to what I will be able to learn from this role and what I will be able to give back to students.
